I'm taking on 40 miles in March

I'm taking on 40 miles in March which matches the average distance that the Thames Valley Air Ambulance helicopter flies to reach an emergency. The challenge is to walk, run, swim, cycle or wheel my way to 40 miles, while helping Thames Valley Air Ambulance crews be there for people when they need them the most. TVAA are not government or lottery funded, and rely on the generosity of the community, like you, to provide the best critical care at the scene and beyond. Thank you for your support!

Finished in style with a parkrun!

Saturday 30th Mar
Joined 620 others at Newbury parkrun this morning - beautiful morning up on Greenham Common. 5km (3.1m) completed. 40 mile target reached with a day to spare. It's been an enjoyable month of exercise, raising valuable funds for such an amazing charity - you saved my husband and secured my current life - thank you!

Nearly there!

Thursday 21st Mar
Another 4 mile run at the gym this morning. Only one mile left to my target of 40 miles.... I think I might manage that before the end of the month!

4 more miles ticked off

Tuesday 19th Mar
Another run in the gym today - 4 miles done - happy with that!

Walk but not quite in the daylight!

Sunday 17th Mar
Got delayed watching the football this afternoon so the walk was much later than planned..... 5.45 km / 3.4 miles completed locally, by torch and streetlight!

Back to the gym.....

Thursday 14th Mar
Back to the gym for a treadmill run this morning - 4 miles completed (photo includes the 5 min cool down!)

A wet day for a walk

Tuesday 12th Mar
Managed to find a window when it wasn't raining and completed 5.4km / 3.3 miles locally

Lovely walk with the family

Monday 11th Mar
Visited family near Bristol on Saturday and went for a lovely walk around Chew Valley Lake - recorded as 7km but forgot to turn my watch off for a min or 2 when we got in the car so estimate it as 6.5km (4 miles) !!

The second walk today

Thursday 7th Mar

A couple of local walks

Thursday 7th Mar
2 walks completed today... started with 3.9km up on Greenham Common this morning, then chalked up another 4.1km delivering some leaflets locally. Total of 8km / 5 miles!

Another trip to the gym

Tuesday 5th Mar
Managed another 4 miles on the treadmill today - hard work!

Longest run on the treadmill....

Sunday 3rd Mar
Just back from the gym where I usually manage 5km on the treadmill. As this is an odd number of miles, I decided to aim for 4 miles in total, assuming I would run the equivalence of 5km then walk the rest. Reality was, I kept running and did the whole 4 miles at my usual 5k pace - very pleased with myself!

First walk completed!

Friday 1st Mar
Started the challenge with a local circular walk with Richard, my favourite walking companion!  5.38km / 3.34 miles completed
