I'm taking on 40 miles in March
On 10/11/2023 I was on my way back from work when I was knocked off my bike and run over by a car, leaving me seriously injured on the road. Fortunately there were people who came to my aid at the roadside, and called 999. The Air Ambulance was dispatched and landed nearby a short while later. Suzy and Richard, a doctor and paramedic worked on me for a further hour on the road, administering life saving care. Once stabilised enough to be taken to hospital I was flown to the JR after which I spent 9 days in ICU and a further week in hospital before discharge to recover at home. Without the critical care of the air ambulance service I would not be writing this today and I'm deeply grateful to the TVAA.
I'm taking on 40 miles in March which matches the average distance that the Thames Valley Air Ambulance helicopter flies to reach an emergency. The challenge is to walk and swim my way to 40 miles, while helping Thames Valley Air Ambulance crews be there for people when they need them the most. TVAA are not government or lottery funded, and rely on the generosity of the community, like you, to provide the best critical care at the scene and beyond. Thank you for your support!
