WHAT IS MISSION 40?

Now in its third year, Mission 40 is an event in support of Thames Valley Air Ambulance. You will join hundreds of others challenging themselves to complete 40 miles in March, while fundraising for our lifesaving service.

Walk, run, swim, cycle, or wheel – how you complete the challenge is up to you.
40 miles in March – complete your mileage any time between 1st – 31st March.
Join the Mission 40 Facebook Group, complete your fundraising page, and connect with hundreds of others taking on the challenge.

HOW DOES MISSION 40 HELP THAMES VALLEY AIR AMBULANCE?

Thames Valley Air Ambulance is a charity at the frontline of saving lives. We provide emergency medical care by air and land to patients in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. As an independent charity, we receive no regular National Lottery or government funding, and rely solely on support from our generous community. By fundraising for our charity, you will be helping us to bring lifesaving care to critically ill and injured patients when they need it most.

WHAT DOES THAMES VALLEY AIR AMBULANCE DO?

Thames Valley Air Ambulance is a charity at the frontline of saving lives. We provide emergency medical care by air and land to patients in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Our critical care paramedics and doctors are highly trained and ready for any eventuality. We bring the hospital to the patient, giving you the best chance when the worst happens. Every day, somebody in our community could be in urgent need of our service. We rely solely on the generous support of the public.

By taking on Mission 40 and fundraising for Thames Valley Air Ambulance, you will be helping us to reach more critically ill and injured patients with hospital-level treatment when they need it most.

Getting Started

HOW DO I JOIN MISSION 40?

By signing up to Mission 40, you’ll be taking the first step to help our crew bring hospital-level treatment to patients in need.

- Join the Mission 40 Facebook Group and connect with hundreds of others taking on the challenge.
- Set up your Fundraising page and share with friends and family.
- Get your free t-shirt after your first donation
- Complete 40 miles from 1st March.

WHEN IS THE CHALLENGE?

Mission 40 takes place throughout March. You can complete your 40 miles at any time between Friday 1st March and Sunday 31st March.

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

Mission 40 is suitable for all ages and abilities, there are no restrictions for who can take part. Please encourage friends and family to get involved. Together, you can make a huge difference to patients in need of our lifesaving care.

Please note Thames Valley Air Ambulance cannot take responsibility for any injuries picked up as part of this challenge.

HOW DO I LET YOU KNOW THE TOTAL MILES I'VE COVERED?

Once the challenge is live on Friday 1 March, we will keep an eye on your page where we can see your fundraising and mileage totals. We hope to share a collective fundraising and mileage total after the challenge has closed on Sunday 31 March.

WHEN DOES THE CHALLENGE START AND END?

The challenge begins on Friday 1st March and ends on Sunday 31st March. 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I COMPLETE MY 40 MILES BEFORE THE END OF MARCH?

You can keep going and complete another mission, or you can wrap up early – whichever works for you!

Fundraising

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM SPONSORSHIP?

There is no minimum sponsorship, our suggested sponsorship target is around £100 per person. If you need any help with your fundraising, make sure to join the Facebook group for support and advice.

HOW CAN I CARRY ON SUPPORTING THAMES VALLEY AIR AMBULANCE?

WHY IS IT 40 MILES?

40 miles is the average distance our helicopter travels to get to an incident within our three counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

HOW DO I GET MY FREE T-SHIRT?

After your first donation, we will send your brand new t-shirt. Look out for the post!

WHAT SIZES ARE THE T-SHIRTS?

Our shirt sizes are Small (36/38"), Medium (38/40"), Large (41/42"), X Large (43/44"), XXL (45/46")

HOW CAN I REMOVE MYSELF FROM THE LEADERBOARD?

If you would not like to be on the 'amount raised' or 'top distance' leaderboards, please let us know at fundraisng@tvairambulance.org.uk and we will remove you from this function.

WHY AREN'T MY MILES SHOWING ON MY PAGE?

Once you have completed your activity, it may take up to an hour for your miles to show on your page.
